A low-noise amplifier (LNA) is the first active stage in most receive chains, where it sets the noise figure of the entire system and dictates how cleanly the radio can hear weak signals. Broadband LNAs trade the ultra-low noise figure of a narrowband, frequency-tuned design for coverage across a wide frequency range — the right choice when one part needs to support multiple bands, when the design has to be flexible across product variants, or when fast time-to-market matters more than squeezing the last 0.2 dB of NF.
Guerrilla RF's broadband LNA portfolio covers ranges from sub-GHz through millimeter-wave, with most parts supporting a 5:1 or wider tuning ratio. Selection typically comes down to four trade-offs: noise figure (lower is better but tightens the gain budget), gain (more is better but limits dynamic range), input third-order intercept (IIP3 — drives coexistence with strong adjacent signals), and supply current (critical in battery-powered or thermally-constrained designs). All parts are internally matched to 50 Ω so they drop into a layout with a single bias resistor and a few capacitors.
Typical applications include cellular front ends and repeaters, GPS / GNSS receivers, software-defined radio and test instrumentation, IoT and ISM-band radios, and military / aerospace COTS receive chains. AEC-Q100 grade-2 qualified variants are denoted with a "-W" suffix.
