Low Current LNAs
Low Power Consumption Amplifiers with Great Noise Performance
About low-current LNAs: low-noise amplifiers optimized for minimum supply current — the right pick for battery-powered, energy-harvesting, or thermally-constrained receivers where every milliamp counts. Read more »Read less «
A low-current LNA is a low-noise amplifier engineered to deliver competitive noise figure and gain from a much smaller supply current than a typical front-end LNA — often 5–10 mA versus 30–60 mA for a high-linearity equivalent. The trade-off is a modest reduction in OIP3 (linearity scales with quiescent current), but for battery-powered and IoT designs the DC budget usually wins over the linearity headroom.
Selection priorities flip from a standard LNA: supply current dominates, with noise figure as the constraining sensitivity spec, then gain and IIP3. Most parts run from a single 1.8 V to 3.3 V supply (no separate analog rail needed) and are internally matched to 50 Ω so the only external components are decoupling caps and a bias resistor.
Typical applications include battery-powered IoT and sensor radios, GPS / GNSS receivers in wearables and asset trackers, low-power Bluetooth / Zigbee / LoRa front ends, energy-harvesting designs, and any receiver where the system thermal budget can't tolerate a high-power amplifier. AEC-Q100 grade-2 qualified variants are denoted with a "-W" suffix.
The table below lists the active low-current LNA portfolio sorted by SKU, with frequency range, gain, noise figure, OIP3, supply current, and package. Click any SKU for the full data sheet, S-parameters, and reference designs.
