Reports to: Sr. Principal Design Engineer/Group Leader
- Design and develop high-performance GaN Power Amplifiers
- Incorporate best amplifier class and design topology to satisfy power, bandwidth, thermal, linearity and efficiency requirements.
- Build the company product catalog by identifying new opportunities.
- Provide technical guidance to support sales and applications.
- Offer mentorship to junior level engineers.
- 6+ years of RF/Microwave product development
- Design of efficiency enhanced Doherty Power Amplifiers
- RF Power amplifier matching and optimization
- Manual RF test with: Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, RF Signal Generators, and Oscilloscopes
- Solid understanding of Gan, pHEMT, HEMT, and HBT device physics
- Circuit Design, simulation, and layout using ADS or Cadence
- EM simulation using Momentum, FEM, and/or HFSS
- Thermal management of packaged integrated circuit
- Bachelor of Science in: Electrical Engineering

Department: Applications Engineering
Position Summary: The RF Applications Specialist provides technical and operational support to the Applications Engineering team by coordinating projects, supporting RF lab testing, assisting with PCB development, and maintaining engineering documentation. This role ensures efficient execution of application projects, managing customer samples, and datasheet development while maintaining the smooth operation of the RF applications lab.
The position requires hands-on RF lab experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate closely with engineers and cross-functional teams.
Project and Sample Coordination
- Support project management activities for the Applications team, including tracking priorities, schedules, and deliverables.
- Manage customer samples and evaluation activities from request through completion.
- Work with engineers to plan and execute RF testing for applications projects.
RF Lab Testing & Hardware Support
- Assist with RF testing, tuning, and measurements for applications projects.
- Assemble, modify, and debug evaluation boards and test hardware.
- Support all RF characterization measurements, including gain, harmonics, S-parameters, and other RF parameters.
- Assist in troubleshooting RF circuits and test setups.
PCB Development Support
- Provide PCB layout assistance for applications projects.
- Support board assembly, soldering, and hardware modifications as required.
- Assist with the development of test fixtures.
Documentation & Datasheets
- Support completion and coordination of product datasheets.
- Maintain documentation control for the applications team.
- Prepare reports, test results, and technical documentation.
Lab Operations
- Assist with RF lab management, including ordering components, managing inventory, and maintaining test setups.
- Support equipment organization and lab workflow improvements.
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Electronics Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience working in RF labs or semiconductor testing environments.
- Hands-on experience with RF measurements and hardware debugging.
- Experience designing, layout, and assembling or modifying PCBs.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Experience with RF semiconductor applications testing.
- Familiarity with RF measurement equipment, including spectrum analyzers and network analyzers.
- Experience assisting with datasheet development.
- Familiarity with PCB layout processes.
